The big 50- weekend 2

This weekend's treat in honour of me reaching the big 50 was a visit to a garden in nearby Barton Green open under the National Garden Scheme (people opening their own gardens with a small entry fee, teas and plant sale in the garden; all money going to charity).

It was impossible to take a photo of the entire garden as it was made up of huge sweeping borders and many garden "rooms" so you couldn't see it all in one sweep.

There were many good ideas to copy here........ climbers clambering through evergreens.

Many one colour borders but with different foliage and flower shape/texture....

Same colour borders but with different shades..........

Narrow grass paths cutting through borders enabling easy access into wide flower beds.

We purchased some perennials; white lychnis, blue delphinium and a pink salvia to plump up some of our own borders next year.

We nattered to a lady who was visiting from Ireland and she told us all about her garden :) Gardeners are like crafters - jolly & friendly!!

We rounded off the visit with a glass of wine overlooking Barton Marina watching the boat comings and goings. And jolly good it all was too!
I like being 50!!!!!!
